Nariño

« Adventure lives in every breath of wind. »
— Andean proverb

The story

Welcome to Nariño.

Far south, on the border with Ecuador, Nariño is volcano country. Galeras smokes gently above Pasto, and coffee trees cling to slopes so steep you walk leaning forward.

Above 2,000 metres, cold nights slow the ripening: the cherries take their time and concentrate their sugars. The Blancos y Negros carnival is a reminder that joy here is a tradition.
