Villamaría

Colombia’s garden, at the gateway to volcanoes, páramo and hot springs.

Field notes

Villamaría

A few kilometres from Manizales, Villamaría opens the road to Nevado del Ruiz and Los Nevados National Park. Its flower-growing tradition earned it the name “Garden of Colombia”.

The landscape changes with every climb: coffee, cool forest, páramo and finally high peaks. Thermal springs offer a warm pause below the mountains.
